I would bet that many people are like myself and find that our weight has become a problem without us noticing. Or maybe we just lie to ourselves?

It became very obvious to me after I watched the DVD of my daughters wedding. To say that I dominated the screen is an understatement. It was not helped by the fact that her mother's side of the family are all slim.

There was no getting away from it fat loss was becoming a priority for me and I knew what to do or thought I did. So after a medical check I rejoined my local gym. Now I would not want to discourage any one from doing this, but a fat loss workout on its own is never enough.

I still work out at the gym regularly but that is a choice that I have made it is not primarily to lose weight.

Exercise is only part of what must be a holistic approach to losing weight. In other words there has to be some reduction in intake. Now I know that as soon as the word diet appears everyone shudders and rightly so. There have been so many ridiculous ones over the years that I will not even mention them.

The real secret to success is modification of your eating regime and a light but regular exercise program.

If you can find some one to accompany you when exercising life is so much easier. If not walk with your dog if you have one, or join a local club for walking or swimming, get together with some colleges for a walk at lunch or after work. The choices are endless but preferable not golf. It's a great game but not very aerobic that's probable why Tiger Woods gets his exercise elsewhere.

When it comes to eating I don't think that there are any fat loss foods so just look and think before you purchase or eat. Cut out the sugars and as much of the fats as you can. A good idea is to get someone who has your best interests at heart to check your food stocks and get rid of anything not suitable.

There is also a mass of literature on healthy eating. I purchased book from a stand for a couple of bucks and it has worked well.

OK so what can I expect from these small modifications to my life style?. Well a slow but constant weight reduction is what you should be aiming for. Do not be too hard on yourself and set rigid targets. Your body does not work like that and if you don't meet these targets it can lead to disappointment and failure. Consistency is vital but if you do overindulge on occasions so what. Forgive yourself and start again the next day.

The important thing is your minds set and believe in your self. Just picture the results that you want and set yourself a goal excepting the fact that it will take time.
